About Us

Creation and statutes of DUHOZANYE Organization

The tragic events of April - July 1994 that hit Rwanda have left various forms of scars on the genocide survivors. Indeed, the genocide took thousands of lives and thus broke up the foundations of social relations. The unprecedented crimes committed during the genocide have caused very deep fear, despair and a lot of mistrust at the family and community levels.

The survivors of the genocide have lost their belongings and family members that they loved much. To various extents, they have had trauma experiences, exclusion, and lack of shelter, isolation, fear, poverty and loss of hope to live. Some have been injured, threatened, tortured while others have been victims of rape and sexual abuse. Some women and girls contracted unwanted pregnancies or HIV / AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

. Histolical Background of Duhozanye.

Duhozanye is now operating in Gisagara District and it’s open to southern province and western province for different services among genocide survivors like capacity building in Income generating activities.
